Kevin Hart, The Kardashians, Chris Brown & More Help Raise Over $1 Million for Hurricane Harvey Relief

People walk down a flooded street as they evacuate their homes after the area was inundated with flooding from Hurricane Harvey on Aug. 28, 2017, in Houston.

Beyonce, Drake, The Chainsmokers, Chris Young, DJ Khaled, Nicki Minaj and many others have also pledged their support.

As Hurricane Harvey continues to devastate southeast Texas in its aftermath, a number of celebrities are stepping up to provide support for the families affected by the storm's extensive flooding and damage. Along with sending messages via social media, music stars are pooling together hundreds of thousands of dollars for the cause.
Many have taken action through Kevin Hart's Hurricane Harvey Relief Challenge, which the comedian advertised on Instagram Sunday. (Aug. 27). Hart initially donated $25,000 before upping his contribution to $50,000 and called out fellow comedians and artists to do the same. As of press time, Hart's fund has collected almost $800,000, with all money going to the Red Cross to help those impacted by the disaster.
Beyonce, a Houston native, released a statement that was published in the Houston Chronicle:
"My heart goes out to my hometown, Houston, and I remain in constant prayer for those affected and for the rescuers who have been so brave and determined to do so much to help," the singer wrote. "I am working closely with my team at BeyGOOD as well as my pastor (Rudy Rasmus at St. John's in downtown Houston) to implement a plan to help as many as we can."
Beyonce's pastor, Rasmus, later told TMZ it was unlikely we would ever learn the full extent of the pop star's donations and generosity to the people of Houston. "Beyonce is extremely private and has done a lot that she has requested that we don't announce and publicize over the years ... she has always taken a position to help this city in its times of need and now is no different -- she has really stepped up and it has been a real blessing for us," he said.

Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar of the Libyan National Army (LNA) threatens to attack Italian vessels in Libyan waters unlikely to materialise, but risks support mission

the Italian parliament approved legislation allowing Italian military vessels to patrol Libyan waters in order to stem the flow of migrants entering Italy. This is the latest in a series of initiatives and proposals by the Italian government to block the Mediterranean migrant route, including the recent introduction of a code of conduct curtailing the flexibility of aid groups and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to operate rescue vessels in the Mediterranean. In response to the latest measure to deploy the Italian navy, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar of the Libyan National Army (LNA) – a militia associated with the Tobruk-based government in eastern Libya – warned that any non-commercial vessel entering Libyan waters without prior authorisation would be attacked.

More than a fifth of hostages in Gaza are dead, Israel says

Tel Aviv:  Israel has called securing the freedom of the hostages abducted to the Gaza Strip a key goal in its war against Hamas, so many in the country were shocked when it emerged that at least one-fifth of the captives were already dead. The news is likely to worsen a furore in Israel, where a debate over the government’s course of action in Gaza regarding the hostages has become divisive. CREDIT: SERGEY PONOMAREV/THE NEW YORK TIMES Israeli intelligence officers have concluded that at least 30 of the remaining 136 hostages captured by Hamas and its allies on October 7 have died since the start of the war, according to a confidential assessment reviewed by  The New York Times . The bodies of two other dead Israelis, killed in 2014 during a previous war between Israel and Hamas, have been held in the territory ever since, bringing the total number of slain host...
